Kevin home on R&R

Hey everyone, Kevin was home in August for about 2 weeks on R&R. Of course the time flew right by, but he had a great time being Dad again and he is still great at it. I wish there had been more time so he could have visited with more family at the time, but I guess the visits are quick so we don't get too used to him being home. He is back in Afghanistan now and should be home in time for Christmas YEAH! And if we are extremely lucky then he will be home in time for Thanksgiving. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers, please keep him in your prayers a little while longer.

July Update on Kevin

Kevin is doing well. He is working the night shift and flying most days. That is what he enjoys the most. He says it helps the days go by faster. I think he likes it since he doesn't have to manage people as much too. We are counting down the days until he comes home for R and R next month. He should be home August 10th or around that date. These are some pictures from Afghanistan.
There is a cool picture of the blackhawk landing to pick up troops in the mountains, the landing zone is marked by the smoke. One picture of Bamyan, where there used to be statues of Buddha carved into the mountainside. The water is crystal clear and gorgeous. More pictures of the mountains in Afghanistan. You can see how huge they are by the size of the helicopter. There is a picture of the patch Kevin's company wears. And lastly a picture of Kevin's group, kind of a 'where's Kevin' picture.

This is a mission flag that Kevin has sent Grampa. It was flown on a mission in February just for him. A mission flag is carried in the helicopters every time they fly. This flag flew for 4.2 hours with them. When the mission is over the flag gets certified and signed by who flew with it. Kevin got to sign the certificate and had it framed. He sent it just in time so I could give it to him for Fathers Day. Grammie had to lose one of her painted pictures in the living room to make room for it...... this was a very special moment for Grampa, he just kept saying "are you sure this is for me???" Yes just for you............................

Greetings Family

Hey everyone, I know you think I must be a blogging fanatic but I thought it would be nice to be able to share all of the photos from various family gatherings. This way everyone, not just our facebook friends, can view the pictures and stay connected with the family. Everyone is welcome to be an author on this blog so they can update with information and pictures at anytime. If I didn't send you an author invite please email me and I will..tigrlily04@gmail.com.

I hope Emily doesn't mind..I stole most of these pictures from her facebook (you can yell at me later).

I hope this becomes a hotspot for everyone to visit!
